Economy: We must ensure that our economy stays strong. Thousands of people are losing houses due to the mortgage crisis and as a state we must provide avenues for residents of District 28 and across the state to manage their money so that they don’t lose their home while at the same time ensuring that new homeowners can buy a home.
If the State had a revenue surplus of $100 millions, how would you allocate the money?
1. $50 million - for public education needs, including increasing teacher salaries, reducing class sizes, hiring ESL teachers, and increasing the programs and resources of our higher education programs.
2. $30 million - programs or tax incentives to develop alternative energy resources such as solar, wind or geothermal sources.
3. $20 million - Funds to be used for assistance in extending health coverage for those currently uninsured.
